Kashi, Ayodhya & Prayagraj Yatra Guide 2026: Darshan, Route & How to Plan

Home / Blog / Post

The Kashi–Ayodhya–Prayagraj circuit has become one of the most sought-after pilgrimages in India, linking three of the holiest cities in Uttar Pradesh. Together they offer the darshan of Lord Shiva at Kashi Vishwanath, Lord Ram at Ayodhya's grand new temple, and a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. This guide covers each destination, a suggested route, the best time to go, and how to plan a smooth trip.

Kashi (Varanasi) — Kashi Vishwanath and the Ganga aarti

Varanasi, or Kashi, is among the oldest living cities in the world and the spiritual heart of this yatra. The highlight is darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath temple, now set within the grand Kashi Vishwanath Corridor connecting the shrine to the Ganga ghats. Don't miss the evening Ganga aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a boat ride at sunrise past the ghats, and nearby Sarnath where Buddha gave his first sermon.

Ayodhya — the Ram Mandir

Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, now draws pilgrims from across the country to the magnificent Ram Mandir for darshan of Ram Lalla. Alongside the main temple, visit Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and the Saryu ghats for the evening aarti. Darshan and aarti slots can be busy, so plan your timing and reach early.

Prayagraj — the Triveni Sangam

Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) is home to the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. Pilgrims take a holy dip at the Sangam, usually by boat, and visit the Bade Hanuman temple and Akshayavat near the fort. Prayagraj is also the site of the Kumbh and the annual Magh Mela, when the city fills with millions of devotees.

Suggested route and duration

A comfortable trip covers all three cities in about 5 to 7 days. A common route is Prayagraj → Ayodhya → Varanasi (or the reverse), since the three are well connected by road and rail. Allow a full day or two in Varanasi for the ghats, the corridor and Sarnath; a day in Ayodhya; and a day in Prayagraj for the Sangam.

Best time to visit

The pleasant months from October to March are ideal, with cooler weather for the ghats and temple visits. If you want to combine the yatra with the Magh Mela or Kumbh, plan around those dates well in advance, as the cities get extremely crowded during the mela.

How to reach

All three cities are well connected. Varanasi and Prayagraj have airports and major railway stations; Ayodhya now has its own airport and an upgraded railway station. Most pilgrims arrive by train or flight into one city and travel between the three by road.
